Spring is Paradise

I am really enjoying the weather these past few days! There is nothing like opening the windows to let the nice clean breeze in, and flush out the stale winter air.

All the different sounds of the birds are glorious and the small sprigs of green on the tree branches really promises that spring is finally here.

Waking up before 7am is no big deal, now that the sun is up, and we can spend the day playing and exploring the newness of spring. It is so much fun to watch the kids become so exited by what we have taken for granted for so long. Birds flying overhead, all the little flowers blooming, worms on the sidewalk, ant hills in the dirt.

I think of the sentence in the chorus of Paradise by the BoDeans:

Paradise, it aint hard to find, lookin' out your window at the world outside.

Spending hours outside is wonderful! I love digging in the sand and rolling in the grass. We have already gone through a bucket of sidewalk chalk since Easter.

What is your favorite outdoor activity??

We've been going to the parks everyday and one of the parks, they have a little merry-go-round we sit on and I push us around and around and around with one foot and he talks and points to things while we sit there together. Its my favorite moment so far. I was such a park freak when I was a little kid.

Can you imagine being, not even, two years old and going through a really tough winter and wondering if it will ever be nice outside again? No wonder Spring is so wonderful to little kids.

We have tons and tons of daffodils in the back yard and throughout the meadow. It certainly makes like more bearable to look out and See green and yellow instead of gray, gray & gray.

now that it is so humid, avery's hair is a pile of ringlets on her head.

we love to look at the buds on the bushes and trees. we talk about how everyday, they grow bigger. the kids can't wait to see them every day. we also go on "splore walk" (explore walk), to find all kinds of new stuff. i just have to get them buckets to put all the things they pick up, so i don't have a pocket full of rocks and leaves.

My boys and I flew a kite this Spring- I mean, really FLEW a kite! We had it at the end of its string and it brought back memories of the last time I truly flew a kite- at my grandparents' house eons ago- I was lucky enough to share that memory with my Grandma who is now 87! I guess it all comes full-circle!
